Month of
Gratitude
I hear that November is Gratitude Month. My first thought is that it’s a shame we have to designate a month to something we should practice year round. That being said, perhaps dedicating a month to being mindful of the things we are grateful for is a very good thing.
In the busyness of our lives, sometimes we need a reminder of the important practices that make a difference in our daily lives. First of all, because you will be receiving this on or just before Remembrance Day, our first act of gratitude must be toward all those who offered their lives in defense of democracy and the rights we enjoy. We also give thanks for the peacekeepers still today who put themselves in harm’s way because of what we, as a country, believe is the right thing to do. We remember and we give thanks, as we continue to work toward peace built on justice and right relations with all people.
Let’s make this month of November a time to focus on our expressions of gratitude. Perhaps you already have a gratitude practice that is linked to journaling or meditation. Perhaps your gratitude comes out in your interactions with others. Maybe your gratitude is expressed in the form of service in the community. There are many ways to create moments of thanks. It’s important to find what resonates with you according to your interests, your personality, and your own gifts. I look forward to
hearing your gratitude stories.
I know I have said this before, but I am grateful for this amazing faith family. Each day in my work with you there is something or someone that sparks a moment of gratitude for all that we are and all that we do together. Thank you!
Peace and joy,
Nancy
