Spirit of Wellness
Creating balance in our lives can be complicated. It is certainly something we need to approach intentionally. We tend to feel much healthier when our day, or at least our week, includes attention to our physical health, mental health, and spiritual health. It is often just a matter of creating good habits that are built into the routine flow of our daily activities. Okay, I will admit that is easier said than done. It doesn’t take much for our well-intentioned plans to go off the rails. We must be flexible enough to manage the unexpected things that send us off in different directions, and yet still connected to the habits that bring us back in a healthy balance again.
This Sunday, both Gaetz United and Sunnybrook United, are focusing worship on the Spirit of Wellness: Building Community through Creativity and Play. This is an initiative organized by a team from both our United churches, with the intention of bringing people together through community partnerships, playful creativity, and spirited exploration. We believe that creativity and imagination can be used as vehicles for spiritual exploration, personal healing, and community development.
As we come out of pandemic times, we recognize that we are all in need of some healing, both personally and within community. We believe this Spirit of Wellness initiative will provide the spaces for us to do that together. We also believe that as faith communities, this is a way for us to offer spiritual nurture to the community within a wholistic approach to wellness. It’s all part of the re-balancing of our lives in such a time as this. Our first partnership is with Kerry Wood
Nature Centre. Stay tuned for details of upcoming activities May through August!
Peace and joy,

Congregational Care
The Congregational Care Committee is re-examining ways to
adapt to post pandemic situations because things are
different now. This is especially so with regards to hospital
visitations since the hospital has removed the ways we used
to have access to names of members that are there. At the
present time, it is necessary for the office to be informed if
someone who is hospitalized would like to be visited by a pastoral care member. Then we
can make that happen. We would also encourage our members to let the office know if you
think a member of Sunnybrook would benefit from a card or a call from the Congregational
Care Committee. This would help us as a church community help each other.. Thank you.
