Walking Through Lent
What a difference a week can make at this time of year. The sun shone on our last Lenten Walk. It was hard to believe we were still in our winter coats the week before. It has been interesting paying attention to our Red Deer landscape over the last five weeks, as snow and ice has melted into the first signs of spring.
Transitions are all around us in the natural world, perhaps giving us a connection point with transitions happening in our personal lives too. I wonder what might be shifting or changing in your life. Are you letting go of some things and making room for something new? However you journeyed through this Lenten season, I hope your contemplations have been like seeds in spring, offering the promise of new life.
Remembering Fran
Many of you will know by now that our United Church community here in Red Deer has lost a real gem this week. Rev. Dr. Fran Hare passed away on Monday. I have many fond memories of Fran, as I’m sure many of you do as well. I have always considered Fran a mentor and a wonderful teacher. I will be forever grateful for her generous spirit, her ability to draw you into a story, and for the kind way she treated everyone she met. Fran will be dearly missed and always held in our hearts.
Peace, joy (and a few tears)
Nancy
