Direction, Call,
Purpose
When walking through unfamiliar woods on a winter day, it is most reassuring, and somewhat surprising, to come upon an arrow in the snow pointing out the way to go. How appropriate, that on retreat to connect with colleagues and remember our journey with call and vocation, we should discover we were where we were meant to be – on the right path going in the right direction.
Actually, what I have learned so far on my journey with call and vocation, is that every path is the right path. We will learn what we are meant to learn on each path we walk. We still must pay attention to the road signs along the way. Those signs come in the form of self-knowledge, opportunities, reflections back to us from others, doors that open or close, and windows that open.
We have come to the end of the season of Epiphany. This year, Epiphany’s light has offered me many insights about direction, call, purpose, and the presence and mystery of the divine through it all. Those insights have been both personal and about our faith community. Sunnybrook United seems to be headed in a good direction right now as we experience new energy, new challenges, and new connections. I think we have been paying attention to the signs along the way that remind
us of our purpose.
There is a lot to celebrate, and a lot that still lies before us, as we go into our annual meeting this Sunday. These times of uncertainty call upon our resilient nature to keep us trekking through the snow together. With the reassuring presence of holy mystery always among us, we will know that we are where we are meant to be.
Peace and joy,
Nancy
