Mystical Moments
After a wonderful holiday, there’s no place like home. Our time away was restful and very enjoyable. Wherever our travels took us, I was on the lookout for those fleeting moments in time that reveal something extraordinary hidden in the ordinary walk of our day. You never know where or when you might discover a reminder that you are part of something so much bigger than your own little sphere of influence.

Our Sunnybrook summer theme (A Moment in Time: Celebrating the Spirit of Ordinary Miracles) has been a gift, encouraging me to simply be present to each moment as it comes. Now I have a collection of pictures of those captured moments that remind me of ordinary miracles.

We spent the last weekend of our time away at our family lake cottage for the annual Regatta celebrations. We bemoaned the fact that the fireworks were cancelled because of a fire ban, only to discover later that night something even more spectacular in the sky all around us. No one could have planned it, or created it, or paid for it. The Northern Lights simply showed up in all their beauty and mystery and invited us all to look up. If you have ever tried to take pictures of Northern Lights, you will know it is a challenge because they are constantly moving. Each moment is unique and never to be experienced twice. I guess that’s what makes witnessing them such a mystical moment in time.

I hope you have been able to capture some of your own ordinary miracle moments this summer. Don’t forget the invitation to share one or two of your favorites with us. We hope to create a wonderful power point presentation for Rally Sunday (Sept. 8) to accompany a musical tribute to the mystical moments that have captured our imagination.

Peace and joy,
Nancy
