In the Moment

Fuchsia flowers offer us a wonderful opportunity to experience being in the moment. These flowers only last a few days and then they are gone. Knowing that gives us a great excuse to steal away for a moment in the garden and take in their delicate beauty.

This was one such moment in time I was grateful for this past week. There is always a lot to finish up before going away for
a while, so this moment in our garden allowed me to take a breath and reflect on all that has transpired over the last few
months here at Sunnybrook.

There has been so much to be grateful for: the Gala, my commissioning, Aleesha coming on staff, and our 60th anniversary celebrations, just to name a few. We have come together as a congregation to make all these things happen. It has required hard work, and perseverance, but we have also generated such positive energy remembering Sunnybrook’s story and setting the groundwork for the next chapter.

Last Sunday I offered a suggestion that an ordinary miracle is likely to be found in a moment of awe or wonder that changes something inside us. My gratitude moment in the garden certainly offered that. How have you been experiencing ordinary miracles as these beautiful summer moments unfold? I hope you continue to send in your amazing pictures.

Allan and I will begin our holidays after worship this Sunday. I’m sure the thoughts of all Sunnybrook has accomplished together in the last while will continue to linger with us as we go. May your summer days bring you moments of awe and wonder that fill your heart with gratitude for the little miracles that transform your life.

Peace and joy,

Nancy
