Summer Skies
This week I was on the lookout for ordinary miracles, not knowing what I might find, nor what constitutes an ordinary miracle in the first place. I happened to look up on one of our walks and I just had to stop and take a picture of this cloud formation. The picture doesn’t do it justice, but in the moment it was quite extraordinary the way the light hit different parts of the cloud. Is it a miracle? Not really. It can easily be explained within the laws of nature. Perhaps the miracle is in the
effect it had on me in the moment that I saw it. It was simply a moment of awe that tuned me into our relationship with the environment around us. Perhaps something changed in me because of witnessing the beauty and power of something beyond my control.
This summer we are asking you to take pictures of your impressions of ordinary miracles. Our theme: A Moment in Time: Celebrating the Spirit of Ordinary Miracles, will guide us through the summer months. We hope you are willing to share your photos by submitting them to the church office. I can’t wait to see the moments in time that you capture. There is no need to reflect on the significance of it, but if you feel so moved to add a few words, you are most welcome to do so. At
the end of the summer, most likely for Rally Sunday, we hope to have all the pictures submitted put into a power point presentation.
Wherever you happen to venture this summer, near or far, keep your phone handy and be on the lookout for something extraordinary in the ordinary. Perhaps something will change in you because of witnessing beauty and power beyond your control.
May your summer be filled with moments of gratitude, humility, and grace.
Peace and joy,
Nancy
