Happy in the
Service
I find myself still processing all that transpired last week at the Chinook Winds Regional Gathering. Knowing I was to be commissioned into Diaconal Ministry at the Celebration of Ministry Service, so many people I have known over the
years came and spoke to me. It felt like a bit of a time warp. I was filled with so many memories of events and people I had learned so much from. Each memory serving as a significant part of my faith formation.
Part of the ceremony acknowledging those entering Diaconal Ministry, is the presentation of a bowl, towel, and pitcher. This is a beautiful reminder that our role in ministry is about serving one another. As I received these items on Sunday, I felt the responsibility that comes with this call, but I also knew, without a doubt, this is where I’m meant to be. The variety of experiences I have had over the years has prepared me for this role I now share in your good company.
Now, as we move forward in team ministry, welcoming Aleesha Hradoway to lead First Third Ministry, we will continue to serve each other in times of joy and challenges. We will explore new and exciting endeavors together, some of which may be unchartered territory. May we enter this new chapter at Sunnybrook with curiosity, hope, and faith in the weave of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
Peace and joy,
Nancy
