Heart Dreams
Imagine what you would do if you truly followed your heart. Where would you go? What would you do? What would you learn? Who wouldyou meet?
Now, before you venture down that imaginary pathway, the rule for this exercise is that you also must imagine there are no obstacles in your way. There is nothing standing in the way between you and your dreams.
Just imagine that.
I wonder what dreams were in the hearts of the fishermen Simon, Andrew, John, and James, that they felt compelled to answer the call to follow Jesus. I wonder if the challenges of their day cast long shadows, not only on their daily living, but on the hope for something better that lay deep within their hearts. When Jesus came along with his invitation to step out of the shadows and into the light of discovery and hope, their hearts must have skippeda beat or two.
When we consider what it means to follow Jesus, perhaps we can imagine that we are invited to follow our heart’s longing for a better way of being. We are invited to step out of the shadows and into the light of new discoveries and insights. We too have many shadows cast on our daily living in this time and place. The “way” of Jesus is an invitation to step away from our “boats and fishing nets” and follow God’s dream of a better way of being in theworld.
Let’s keep dreaming together.
Peace and joy,
Nancy
