Spirit of the

Journey

School is out for the summer!

(That may give you an earworm
for a while, depending on how old you are.) Even if your children have grown and moved on, the end of the school year is a marker for all of us. Let the summer begin!

Over the next two months here at Sunnybrook, we will be reflecting on all manner of journeys. Some of us like to hit the open road, some of us like to simply hit the trails, and some of us like to explore places far and wide.

Whatever the trip itinerary, our journeys inevitably have significance beyond the physical places we go. Once we let go of our regular routines, we begin to see things differently. Sometimes the spiritual space opens for us to reflect on where we have been, or where we are going. Sometimes we are introduced to new ideas for us to explore, or perhaps new directions we hadnt thought of before.

We are very fortunate living in Alberta to have such a variety of landscapes to explore throughout the province. We can visit a completely different setting not far outside our own back doors. Whether I am by a lake or in the mountains, I am always struck by the beauty, the ruggedness, and the fragility of our surroundings. I cant help but see the sacredness of all things and recognize how everything is connected.

May you remember to touch the earth lightly (Shirley Erena Murray, 1991) wherever your journey takes you. May you give and receive stories generously and graciously. May your body find rest, and your spirit find peace.

Peace and joy,
Nancy
