Jesus taught us to pray that God’s will be done. Some people might think that prayer is asking that God magically ensure that his will is accomplished. But I think it is primarily a personal commitment to do God’s will. To pray God’s will be done is to set our personal intention to do God’s will in our lives. But what does it mean to do God’s will? How can we know what God really wants of us? This sermon includes a summary of the process for discerning God's will taught by Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits).
